About UsIn 1987 we began creating and offering original clip art devoted to library topics. Back then our art was created as black and white pen and ink drawings for subscribers to our newsletter, Marketing Treasures. It literally was "clip art"; printed on glossy sheets of white paper to be cut out with scissors and pasted directly onto layouts for photocopying or printing. With the advent of desktop publishing the "clipping" aspect of clip art gave way to electronic "cut and paste" making it easier than ever for anyone to illustrate their own promotion materials with professional graphics. In 1993 we published our first in a series of electronic library clip art collections under the name of Olson's Library Clip Art. The graphics were all drawn by professional graphic artists using illustration software to create the black and white images. The success of the first volume in Olson's Library Clip Art collection eventually led to 3 more volumes of graphics; Volume 2 was devoted to Americans With Disabilities Act library images, Volume 3 offered library subjects coordinated with the four seasons, and Volume 4 provided straightforward images of popular library subjects. During this time we continued to publish clip art in Marketing Treasures, and for a short while published graphics in our newsletter editorial service, Assistant Editor. Altogether we created more than 1,000 original graphics illustrating a wide range of library topics and situations. LibraryClipArt.com was launched in 2001 offering customers library clip art images on an as-needed-basis for a fee. In 2005 the site was converted to a free service of clip art to our colleagues in the library community.
